Old Masters' Methods Meet Modern Glazing (Online); Saturdays, July 24- August 21, 2021
When I was in my early 20's, I was self taught. I knew that there was so much that I didnt know and knew that my
I spent years studying the science of painting, I would make my paint by hand almost everyday.
I even went so far as to make my own pigments! I admit that materials are somewhat of an obession but my first love is always making meaningful work that speaks to me. I feel that it is our duty as artists to add our own link to the chain of tradition and pass on the information that we have ammassed over a lifetime as visual artists to the next generation.
Do You Teach Private Lessons?
Yes, I actually do! You can find out more information by contacting me here.
What About Aestetic?
I believe that beauty exists in nature as a primordial expression of the central generating power at the root of existence. All things exist according to their own nature, the universe is governed by laws and principles with integrity. I try my best to paint in a way that illustrates what I feel about the Good and the beautiful.
Why did you choose to be an artist?
That's a pretty tough question to answer. I know it personally took me a lot of soul searching to really figure out a good answer to that question. My conclusion was that I felt that it was difficult to relate or communicate with people at a deep unspoken level. A painting needs no words to communicate a message. Although, I think great art is meant to be contemplated to ascertain the deeper hidden meaning, much like the great symbols found throughout history. It is the viewer who unlocks the mysteries. I aspire to do paintings that have substance fueled technical prowess that can create a unique experience for the viewer to look deeper into the painting but also themselves.
What materials do you use?
I primarily us two companies because I love their supplies and I believe that they have the greatest mission to provide us ( the artists) with the highest quality materials an affordable price.
