The subject matter of my painting covers a wide spectrum but lately I am mostly interested in landscapes, specifically where water meets land. The summers I spent in the Greek islands when young and subsequent vacations there have left deep impressions of blue skies and white houses. These impressions are now complemented by the exquisite light of California. Still Life, which for me is fruits and vegetables, is another area that I focus my attention. Whether it is a landscape or a still life, I try to convey the spirit and mood of the subject, place and moment. To achieve this I use different color schemes and brushwork, preferring this to settling on a particular style. I prefer dry pastels for studies but my studio painting are with oils.
